Description

Daughters of Dolma takes viewers on a journey that reveals a distinctively female experience of Tibetan Buddhism in the Kathmandu Valley. This illuminat- ing documentary brings to the screen not just Buddhist spirituality and qualities like compassion and kindness, but Tibetan Buddhist nuns as full individuals beyond their monastic vows and religious practices. From the use of Facebook to a love of horror films, these nuns never fail to challenge preconceptions, by integrating the craziness of the modern world into their ancient form of monastic lives. Daughters of Dolma reveals how gender and modernity are molding contemporary spiritual practices in Nepal.
