The Bungalows Of Rockaway: A popular summer resort, once rival to Coney Island, existed along the Rockaway shore, replete with wide beaches, a long boardwalk, honky tonk amusements, and bungalows, thousands of bun- galows. Sparkling interviews bring the former bungalow colonies to life, and vintage archival
film includes some Marx Brothers frolicking. But the film also tracks 100 years of Rocka- way history: the story of the bungalow form; the effects of 1950s “urban renewal” on the peninsula; and, finally, the grassroots activism to preserve the remaining bungalows.
